Make It Possible for Families to Keep the Pets They Love

Every day at the Hanson Family Foundation (HFFSD), we see the difference that compassionate, affordable veterinary care makes through our Pet Wellness Veterinary Hospital. We’re not just treating animals—we’re keeping families together.

Using ARC’s Pay It Forward Fund, we’re able to meet pet families in their hardest moments—when they have nowhere else to turn. Today, we invite you to be part of that impact!

HFFSD has helped dozens of animals receive lifesaving care through ARC:

• A young dog was rushed to us after an emergency referral with pyometra—a life-threatening uterine infection requiring immediate surgery. ARC covered critical diagnostics, including her exam and X-rays, while our team worked closely with her owner to create a manageable payment plan. Because of that partnership, she went home healthy.

• Monty, a beloved family cat, arrived with a urinary blockage—an emergency that would have been fatal without urgent surgery and hospitalization. His family loved him deeply but simply did not have the financial means to proceed. With support from the Pay It Forward Fund, Monty received the care he needed—and made it home.

• Bella, a sweet dog owned by a senior living on a fixed income, was referred through an ARC Ally. She needed essential care: spay surgery, vaccines, and wellness services. Without assistance, her owner would have had to go without care entirely. Instead, Bella is now healthy, protected, and still in the home where she is deeply loved.

• Leo, a senior cat battling diabetes, has an owner who refused to give up on him—driving to Sioux Falls with one foot on the brake and one on the accelerator, determined to get him help. That kind of love is what we’re working to protect. Leo's owner received prescription pet food and insulin thanks to ARC.

These are not isolated stories—they are happening every week. The Pay It Forward Fund is designed to respond quickly, with dignity and compassion. With minimal barriers and immediate decisions, we can step in when it matters most. Combined with affordable pricing and pay-over-time options, we are building a model that works for real families in our community.

And the need is growing.

Later this month, we will open our main hospital in southeast Sioux Falls—expanding access to care and reaching even more pets and people who need us.
