Pet Wellness Veterinary Hospital is Reimagining Access to Compassionate, High-Quality Vet Care
The Pet Wellness Veterinary Group nonprofit dba Pet Wellness Veterinary Hospital is making high-quality veterinary care more accessible in the Sioux Falls SD region. In collaboration with the Hanson Family Foundation, the Pet Wellness Veterinary Hospital offer affordable care with financially-friendly pay-over-time options.
Dr McLeod earned both her undergraduate and veterinary doctoral degrees from Mississippi State University. Her broad veterinary experience spans emergency and general medicine, surgery, shelter medicine, alternative therapies, pharmaceuticals, and preventive care for pets. She has worked in Mississippi, Florida, Illinois, and Missouri. Dr McLeod relocated to South Dakota in the fall of 2024 with her husband Bill, an officer with the SD Air National Guard. They live on an acreage outside of Parker with four King Charles Spaniels, two of which were adopted from Dakota Dachshund Rescue, and a barn featuring a small tribe of recently adopted goats. Dr McLeod spent much of 2025 doing outreach work through ARC with area animal welfare organizations. Dr Mc works Monday-Thursday at the 59th & Sycamore location and is currently accepting new pet patients.
Dr Harrist graduated from the Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine (1994), where he earned awards for small animal diagnostics and therapeutics. He possesses extensive expertise in small animal medicine and surgery, emergency and critical care, and shelter medicine. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Harrist served as Chief Veterinarian at the Southern Animal Foundation in New Orleans, a nonprofit dedicated to serving financially challenged clients and providing free spay/neuter services for feral cats then returned to his native Mississippi to continue his practice there. Dr Harrist relocated to South Dakota in December of 2025 and lives in Sioux Falls with his dog Oobie. Dr Harrist works Wednesday-Saturday at the PetSmart location on South Louise Avenue and is currently accepting new pet patients.
Dr. Jessa Keleher is from rural SE Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2026. During Dr Keleher's time at Iowa State, she was involved in the Animal Welfare Club and the ISU Surgery Club, and gained hands-on experience performing spay and neuter procedures at Wayside Waifs, a large no-kill animal shelter in Kansas City. Following graduation, Dr. Keleher relocated to Sioux Falls with her husband, Cassidy, a retired Marine Corps/Army veteran. Dr. Keleher met her husband during her time spent in the US Army Reserves, where she attained the rank of Sergeant before completing her enlistment in 2023. Dr. Keleher and her husband enjoy traveling, volunteering, outdoor recreation, and quality time with their son. Dr Keleher works Monday-Thursday at the 59th & Sycamore location and is currently accepting new pet patients.
